Paving the way to sustainability: Society 1056’s roads have repurposed over 428,000 glass bottles

Yourland Development’s flagship project, Society 1056, celebrates a significant milestone towards creating a community that prioritises sustainable and eco-friendly living, with the completion of the final asphalt layers in development Stages 1 and 2.

This milestone exemplifies Society 1056’s commitment to pioneering sustainability initiatives, with the integration of heat-reflective and PolyPave roads.

PolyPave asphalt is a highly sustainable alternative to traditional asphalt. This innovative product incorporates recycled materials, including high-density polyethylene plastics such as shampoo bottles, ice-cream containers, and milk bottles, as well as Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement.

The use of PolyPave has resulted in impressive environmental benefits, including the savings of 16,959 kg of carbon emissions, the recycling and diversion of 531 tonnes of materials from landfill, and the repurposing of 428,249 glass bottles and 42,825 plastic bottles.

PolyPave not only contributes to environmental sustainability but also enhances durability and longevity, helping to ensure the roads at Society 1056 are built to last.

To date, approximately 1.8 kilometres of sustainable road has been laid in the first two stages of the project in partnership with project partners Spiire and Winslow with approximately 20-30 kilometres planned upon completion of the estate.

The roads at Society 1056 are just one of many initiatives that set the development apart as a forward-thinking, environmentally responsible community.
